The facsimile edition of the only "Polish" copy of the Gutenberg Bible printed in Mainz in 1452 - 1455.
The original is distinguished among the 48 unique works by John Gutenberg still in existence with its well-preserved Gothic cover signed by master Coster from Lubeck and the trace of a font reflected in the margin of the 46th sheet of tome I, being one of the proofs of Guttenberg's creation. Original beautiful initials and samples of multi-colored print increase the value of this unique incunabulum.
The original Bible is exhibited in the collection of the Diocesan Museum in Pelplin.
The facsimile was prepared in 2002 - 2003 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the pontificate of Pope John Paul II.
